Chloe – Owner and Creator of Sewtree

Hello! My name is Chloe and I am the owner and sole maker of the wonderfully crafted items from SewTree. I created the business back in 2010 just before my first son was born as a way to keep busy while at home. I have always loved creating things. I can say that the passion for working with my hands, creating something new from scratch, started early in my life. As a child I used to cut up all sorts of household items to make doll houses, pictures and homemade toys. About 14 years ago I started making quilts and discovered a passion for sewing. This is where the passion for creating something from nothing really started to grow.

I made quilts for friends and family and have many, many UFOs (unfinished objects) which will hopefully one day be finished! From sewing quilts I naturally evolved into clothes and jewelry. I find working with metals and beads great fun. It takes a lot of practice and patience to form the metals correctly and, like all things crafted, watching something beautiful emerge from raw materials brings great satisfaction. The way a gardener grows flowers from a seed, I watch dull raw metal turn into shinning delicate pieces of gorgeous jewelry. There are endless combinations that can be made from beads, wire and metals. I look forward to many years discovering these combinations. I have been making jewelry for a while now and I particularly enjoy hand stamping quotes and names onto metal designs. You can take your favourite quotes from movies, inspirational role models, motivational mantras, and life affirmations, and then wear them on your body. Saying to the world, “Here I am! Watch me ROAR!”

My family is my inspiration. My little boys, so full of laughter and joy, bring out the best in me. So I loved the idea of carrying them with me wherever I go. I wear my boys names around my neck on a Mother’s Necklace so that I carry them with me always. Sometimes I am away for work, or they are visiting their grandparents and I miss them. So I stroke their names on my pendant necklace and think of them.

So join me here on SewTree – Crafting From the Roots as I search for inspiration, look at the latest in jewellery making, materials and design, and give your step-by-step instructions on making some beautiful jewellery keepsakes to treasure and gift. I will also bring you the latest from the SewTree online store, new designs and discounts, and share my journey as I make jewellery designed just for you.

I look forward to sharing stories and value your feedback. If you have something you would like to share, or would like to see on the blog please email me at admin@sewtree.com or leave a comment on our facebook page!
